2022 Passenger Numbers at the Prince George Airport
Prince George, BC – The Prince George Airport (YXS) saw 364,663 passengers use the facility in 2022, up 81% from 2021.
“It was great to see passengers return to air travel after Covid-19 paralyzed the industry in 2020” says President and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA), Gordon Duke. “The first few months of the year we experienced a very healthy increase of passengers with May seeing the highest growth at 320% compared to the same month in 2021.”
Some highlights of the year include a new international destination in Tucson, Arizona via Flair Airlines, welcoming Farmhouse Catering to the terminal and securing federal funding to replace aging infrastructure.
“I would be remiss to not recognize the contributions every employee at YXS, including our airline partners, our concessions, service providers and our PGAA staff, made to keep the airport running, especially during the busy Christmas season.”
In 2023, we look forward to the completion of the Fire Hall expansion and the arrival of a new aircraft rescue and firefighting truck. Another highlight taking place this year is an update to our Master Plan and an accompanying Economic Impact Study. HM Aero Aviation Consulting and Parcel Economics is preparing these studies in collaboration with PGAA staff and local stakeholders. The results of these studies will outline our path forward over the next 20 years. The public is also invited to take the survey which can be found on our website: www.pgairport.ca. Those who take the survey are entered into a draw to win a flight voucher prize pack.
