2024 Passenger Numbers and Year in Review

The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) is proud to announce that 450,494 passengers traveled through the Prince George Airport (YXS) in 2024, marking an 8% increase compared to 2023. This steady growth over the last 4 years brings the airport closer to pre-pandemic passenger levels.

2024 has been a year of meaningful progress for the Prince George Airport as we completed our service dog relief area in the departures lounge, donated two Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) trucks to Barkerville Historic Town & Park, celebrated a flag raising ceremony with Lheidli T’enneh, and finished construction of the “Reflection” area with accessible paths and picnic table. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Lheidli T’enneh with further developments in 2025.

Other noteworthy successes include Pacific Coastal Airlines launch of their new non-stop service to Kelowna, the arrival and commissioning of our new ARFF truck, terminal upgrades including new carpet and washroom renovations, and the completion of an equipment storage expansion started in 2023.

Looking ahead, 2025 will be a year of transition and growth for the PGAA. Following the retirement of Gordon Duke at the end of 2024, Sabrina Angus has stepped into the role of Interim President and CEO while the search for a permanent replacement is underway.

“2024 was a significant year for the Prince George Airport as we celebrated milestones that reflect our commitment to reconciliation, growth, and community” says Sabrina Angus, Interim President and CEO for the PGAA. “As we move into 2025, we’re embracing this year of transition and opportunity, focusing on initiatives that enhance the passenger experience and strengthen our relationships with the communities we serve.”

One of the top priorities for 2025 is restoring food and beverage services at YXS. While the team works diligently to make this happen, we encourage passengers to plan ahead and bring solid food and snacks with them. Please note that liquids, gels, and aerosols remain subject to standard security restrictions.
