Canada’s Airports Safety Week
Prince George – Today the Prince George Airport, along with 29 airports across Canada, have kicked off Canadian Airports Safety Week, an airport-led initiative to promote healthy and safe work practices among airport employees. All airport staff, whether they are working in the terminal building or on the airfield, will be encouraged to take part in themed discussions and events throughout the week.
“Canadian Airports Safety Week is a great opportunity to re-inforce all safety messages surrounding airport operations” says John Gibson, President and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority. “It is incredible to see so many airports across the country come together to promote and reinforce safe behaviors. We look forward to participating in this great initiative moving forward.”
Canadian Airports Safety Week, which is occurring between October 2nd and October 6th, will have a different theme each day.
They are as follows:
Day 1 – Monday, October 2nd, 2017: Worker Safety
Day 2 – Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017: Airside Safety
Day 3 – Wednesday, October 4th, 2017: Security Safety
Day 4 – Thursday, October 5th, 2017: Hazard Reporting & Environmental Safety
Day 5 – Friday, October 6th, 2017: Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Free Friday
The Prince George Airport Authority will be sending out key safety messages to the YXS community, hosting a staff BBQ and educating the public on aviation safety via social media.
About Canadian Airports Safety Week
An airport-led initiative that promotes healthy & safe work practices among airport employees. Twenty-nine airports are actively taking part this year, which is being led by the Canadian Airports Council. Canadian Airports Safety Week was first launched in 2015 by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, with 24 participating airports.
