Operations Based Exercise at YXS
Prince George, BC – The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) will be conducting an Operations Based Exercise tomorrow, Thursday June 23rd at YXS titled “Operation Pressure Cooker.” All airports in Canada are regulated by the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) which states airports must conduct an Operations Based Discussion every year and an Operations Based Exercise every four years.
A number of outside agencies will be taking part including Prince George Fire Rescue Service, Pineview Volunteer Fire Department, Prince George RCMP, Northern Health, the BC Ambulance Service and our local airlines.
Superintendent of Emergency Services, Parker Nelson says “tomorrow’s exercise will involve real fire, so our Operations Team can truly put their skills to use. The flames will be contained to our Fire Training Centre which is in a controlled area. If the public sees black smoke coming from the airport, they don’t need to panic.”
“The safety of our customers, employees and tenants is of the utmost importance” says PGAA President and CEO, John Gibson. “Exercises such as this are a great way to work as a team to ensure an efficient, timely and safe response.”
Operation Pressure Cooker starts at 10:00 am and is expected to go on until 2:00 pm.
