Prince George Airport Conducts Live Exercise
The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) will be conducting a live exercise tomorrow, Thursday October 4th at YXS titled “Operation Bounce”. All airports in Canada are regulated by the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) which states airports must conduct a table top exercise every year and a live exercise every 4 years.
A number of outside agencies will be taking part in “Operation Bounce” including The Prince George Fire Rescue Service, Pineview Volunteer Fire Department, The Prince George RCMP, Northern Health and the BC Ambulance Service.
Superintendent of Emergency Services, Daryl Moulder says “the table top and live exercises are just some of the ways we collaborate with these outside agencies. These exercises are a great way to practice our systems and ensure everyone is on the same page in the event of an emergency.”
PGAA President and CEO, John Gibson says “the safety of our customers, employees and tenants is of the utmost importance. Exercises such as these are a great way to work as a team to ensure an efficient, timely and safe response.”
Media outlets are welcome to cover the event. Please meet at Gate 21 at 10:15 which is between the VIH Helicopter and RCMP Hangars. Feel free to park near the old white building nearby.
The live exercise will include the use of the RCMP Pilatus, live patients from a Duchess Park grade 12 drama class and a number of airlines.
