The PGAA announces a multi-tenant Cargo Facility project to begin this fall
Western Star Ventures Ltd. is in the final design stages of developing a multi-tenant cargo cross-dock facility adjacent to the north-end fueling apron and the recently announced fuel farm at the Prince George Airport.
Gary Jardine, President of Western Star Ventures Ltd says “Construction is planned for this fall and will be completed by the end of summer 2011”.
Jardine explained, “Western Star Ventures Ltd and its subsidiaries have been in airport property development since 1992 and have completed two hangar facilities at the Springbank Airport in Calgary, Alberta.”
This new facility will be designed for cargo storage, inspection and transshipment as well as equipment staging for north end operations. The 25,000 sq ft facility will also offer inspection and administration space for the Canada Border Services Agency and other on airport service providers.
John Gibson, CEO, Prince George Airport Authority explained, “This development is the first multi-tenant facility to be built on the north end.” Gibson added, “It is a critical piece of infrastructure which should be a catalyst for future growth and development.”
Gibson continued, “We have 100 acres of airside airport property, with development potential. As well, the 3,000 acre Airport Logistics Park, currently being developed, is tactically located at the north end fueling pad; this is adjacent to the new Boundary road, which intersects and connects Highways 16 and 97.
Strategically located on the North Pacific Corridor and on Great Circle air routing – the Prince George Airport Authority is an integral part of the Asia Pacific Gateway linking the economies of Asia and North America. The airport with Canada’s third longest commercial runway offers carriers flying trans-pacific routings a Canadian alternative to traditional airport gateways.
